This classic Wailua River kayak tour takes you deep into Kauaʻi’s interior along Hawaiʻi’s largest tropical river. Paddle through lush, history-rich scenery in tandem, ruddered kayaks, then hike inland to the iconic ʻUluwehi Falls, often called Secret Falls, where you’ll enjoy lunch surrounded by rainforest.

The Experience
Expect a fun and challenging paddle, a scenic hike through rainforest terrain, and a well-earned lunch beside ʻUluwehi Falls. This is our most competitive kayak tour for a reason. It’s a true adventure, and conditions can vary. It combines iconic scenery, quality equipment, expert guiding, and decades of experience into one unforgettable day on the river.
Tour Requirements:
- Guests must be able to hike approximately 2 miles (roundtrip) on uneven rainforest terrain and paddle a tandem kayak for 60 to 90 minutes.
- Maximum kayak weight limit is 275 lbs per person.

(Guide gratuity not included) - Beginning February 15, 2026, the State of Hawaii will begin collecting $5 per non-resident and $10 per vehicle at the Wailua Marina. You will be responsible for this payment. Credit cards only.

Guests will meet our guide at the Wailua Marina at 3-5971 Kuhio Hwy in Kapaa.
Please note that as of 2/15/26, the State of Hawaii will be collecting an entrance fee of $5 per person and $10 parking fee per vehicle at the Wailua Marina. You will be responsible to make that payment by credit card when you arrive.

Lunch is included and enjoyed beside the iconic ʻUluwehi Falls. Guests will refuel with a turkey sandwich, fresh carrots, and a freshly baked brownie, along with cold drinks available throughout the day. It’s a simple, satisfying meal that hits the spot after a morning of paddling and hiking.

Good to know:
This tour includes steady paddling and a hike on muddy rainforest trails, so dress for movement, moisture, and getting a little dirty. Choose footwear with good traction that you don’t mind getting wet.
