Guide Spotlight

You won’t find Nalani guiding kayaks or clipping guests onto ziplines, but you’ve definitely seen her work. She’s the voice behind our social media, newsletters, and marketing, sharing the stories, laughs, and adventure moments that make Outfitters Kauaʻi special. 🌴✨
Adventure runs deep for her. Her parents started Outfitters Kauaʻi in 1988, and now she and her husband Michael (one of our guides!) are raising three young keiki of their own. When she’s not writing captions during nap time, Nalani is a Physician Assistant specializing in advanced diabetes care, balancing medicine, motherhood, and marketing like a pro.
So, the next time you chuckle at one of our posts, drop a 🤙 — chances are Nalani wrote it while juggling twins, a baby, and a cup of coffee.
‘Iki Nui: Stories from the Island

Long before visitors paddled the Wailua or zipped through the valleys, the cliffs of Kauaʻi held one of Hawaiʻi’s greatest love stories — the tale of Hiʻiaka, sister of the volcano goddess Pele, and Lohiʻau, the chief of Kauaʻi.
When Pele dreamed of Lohiʻau, she sent Hiʻiaka across the islands to bring him back with one warning: protect my sacred forests and do not fall in love.
Hiʻiaka battled storms, chiefs, and mythical creatures until she reached Kauaʻi, only to find Lohiʻau lifeless. She refused to give up, chanting over him until he breathed again. In that moment, love awakened — not between Lohiʻau and Pele, but between him and Hiʻiaka.
Their story lives in the cliffs above Wailua, carried on winds that rush through the ridgelines. Some say that when the breeze sharpens, it is Pele’s voice rising in jealousy.
Word on the Zipline

“Michael and Eli our guides were very knowledgeable and accommodating with my husband who is blind. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a blast!”
