Paddle the southern end of the spectacular Na Pali Coast.
After meeting early in Poipu, we’ll ride together in our van to the launch site at Polihale Beach, the longest beach in all of Hawai’i. Polihale is a beautiful, secluded beach at the southern end of the famed Na Pali Coast. We’ll launch our kayaks and paddle below 1000′ sea cliffs and past steep, deep valleys carved from black lava for approximately 5 miles to our landing at Milolii, a remote beach only accessible by the sea. Miloli’i was the site of an ancient Hawaiian fishing community, and now is a State Park and habitat for sea turtles, monk seals, and rare Hawaiian sea birds. We’ll enjoy a hearty lunch and spend some quality beach time relaxing before launching for our return paddle back to Polihale Beach.
Food & Drink
This tour includes a great picnic lunch. Your choice is either a turkey or veggie sandwich with a build-your-own buffet of assorted vegetables, mayo and mustard. Lunch also includes pasta salad and a delicious fresh-baked brownie. Cold bottled water and Hawaiian Sun fruit drinks are available throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to bring along their own sports drinks or energy snacks to enjoy during the day. No alcoholic beverages, please.
What to wear and bring
We recommend you bring a swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt , and/or windbreaker or light raincoat, sport-type sandals or aqua socks, waterproof sunscreen, billed hat, sunglasses with keeper, towel, and waterproof camera. We also recommend an over-the-counter medicine for seasickness that won’t cause drowsiness (i.e. Bonine). You can rinse off some salt at Polihale before the van ride home, so you may also want to bring an extra set of clothing and extra towel.
Restrictions For This Tour
The Miloli’i Ocean Paddle is a somewhat strenuous 10-mile paddle in typically heavy seas. Don’t sign up unless you are up for a good workout and a challenge. This tour is best enjoyed by people who are physically fit and have some basic paddling experience. However, you may join us as a first time kayaker if you are athletically inclined and quick to learn new sports. No children under 15 on this tour please. Of course, this trip is not for non-swimmers.
Warning: If you are prone to severe seasickness this trip is not for you. If you feel that you may get slightly nauseous, we recommend motion sickness medicine such as Bonine, Dramamine, or Triptone (over the counter). We suggest taking it the night before the tour, as well as the day of the tour.
