We've been paddling this island since 1988, and the Wailua River for more than 30 years, which makes us one of the most experienced kayak crews on that water. What does that mean for you though? Routes that skip the crowds, tandem ruddered kayaks that actually go where you point them, guides certified in water safety, and the permits to be where we are. On the Huleʻia, you paddle through a national wildlife refuge, pull the boat up, and walk straight onto Kīpū Ranch, 3,000 private acres nobody else can take you into.

‍Two rivers. Two completely different days.
‍The Hidden Valley Falls Kayak & Hike is the mellow one. An easy downstream paddle on the Huleʻia, a short hike into Hidden Valley, and a rope swing over Pirate Pool, which you may recognize from Pirates of the Caribbean. Then to get back a twin-hull Hawaiian canoe picks you up and cruises you home while your guide tells stories.

The Wailua River Kayak & Waterfall Hike is the one you will brag about. Hawaiʻi's largest tropical river, 60 to 90 minutes of paddling each way, and a two mile roundtrip over gloriously muddy rainforest trail to ʻUluwehi Falls, where lunch is waiting. Moderate to strenuous, but absolutely worth it. Or take the 4-in-1 option. The Kīpū Safari includes the Huleʻia river kayak paddle, the hike, Pirate Pool, a full zipline course, and the canoe ride, all in one day on the ranch.
